Marie F. Jones

Marie Frances Therese Eileen McDonald Fitzgerald Jones, 89, passed away peacefully at home in Port Charlotte, FL on September 15th, 2021 in the arms of her niece, Karen Payton, and daughter, Regina Fitzgerald Totaro.

Marie was born to Louis Ernest McDonald and Mary Agnes Smith McDonald on April 16, 1932, in South Hampton, New York. In November of 1951, she married her first love, William Raymond Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death in 1975. Together they are survived by five children: William and (s.) Susan Fitzgerald, John and Anita (s.) Fitzgerald, Robert Fitzgerald and Toni Oster, James and (s.) Lois Fitzgerald, Mark Fitzgerald and Kathy DeAngelo, and Regina Fitzgerald Totaro. In 1977, Marie married second to James Robert Jones, who preceded her in death in 2018. Together they are survived by four children: James and (s.) Susan Jones, Mathew Jones and Bonni O’Neal, Cindy Jones, Karen and (s.) Robert Rossi. 

Marie is also survived by her sister Blanche Riley of Slidell, LA, 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. All of whom she loved deeply.

Throughout her life, Marie found great joy in singing in the choir and eating anything sweet. Those who knew her, and even those who did not, were subject to her sharp wit and generous nature.

Funeral service will be held on October 5th, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Therese of Lisieux in Montauk, NY where Marie was the first child baptized and first married to William Fitzgerald. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery in East Hampton, NY.

Visitation is from 6-8 pm on October 4th, 2021 at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home, 94 Pantigo Rd, East Hampton, NY 11937.
