M. Catherine Skaggs

M. Catherine Skaggs, 94, formerly of Tiskilwa, IL, recently of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away December 14, 2007. She was born February 7, 1913 in New Hope, KY to Leo and Mary (Morris) Nevitt. Catherine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tiskilwa, IL, and was very active in their Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards in various clubs and was involved in local festivals. Catherine was a loving mother and grandmother, who was very involved with her family. She will be greatly missed by her son, Don (Mary) Skaggs of Port Charlotte; sister, Leona Lundeen of Princeton, IL; grandsons, Stephen Skaggs of Lexington, NC and Patrick (Amy) Skaggs of Glen Allen, VA; granddaughter, Mary Beth (George) Avent of Graniteville, SC and 10 great-grandchildren: Alex, Maggie, and Benjamin Skaggs; Emma and Brady Skaggs; Kyle, Ryan, Bridget, Hannah and Benjamin Avent. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Audrel Skaggs; brothers, Ve Nevitt, Damon Nevitt, Brytle Nevitt, Sydney Nevitt and Raymond Nevitt and a sister Bridget (Nevitt) Schierer. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Port Charlotte, FL, Saturday, January 19th, 2008 at 10:30AM Memorial services will be held in Tiskilwa, IL at a later date.
