Carol J. Kelly

Carol J. Kelly, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on August 25, 2021. Carol was born on December 19, 1937, to Lee and Gertrude Mays in Niagara Falls, NY. She was married to the love of her life “Kelly” for 54 years and toured the United States raising their family as a proud military wife.  She resided on Cape Cod and wintered in Naples, and Punta Gorda, FL until permanently moving to Florida in 1991. She was a devoted wife, a beloved mother, and an amazing grandmother, her family was the most important thing to her and she was tireless in her efforts. She will be missed by the legacy she left behind and many dear friends.

She is survived by her daughters Diane Roth, Susan McDonough, Bonnie Kelly, Lorie Kidwell, Robin Barsano, and Lisa Kelly; son David Kelly; brother and sister-in-law, Robert L., and Mary Lee Mays. She also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her beloved cousin Nancy Harpham Bowman. She was preceded in death by her husband, USCG Master Chief, C.L. Kelly, Retired, and infant son Christopher Robert Kelly.

A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W Charlotte Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL on October 7, 2021, at 11:00 am. There will be a Celebration of Life at the South Punta Gorda Civic Center, 11200 1st Avenue, Punta Gorda, FL on October 9, 2021, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carol’s name to Tidewell Hospice of Charlotte County.
