Virginia "Ginny" Wilkie

February 20, 1930 — December 30, 2016

Virginia "Ginny" Wilkie, 86, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Carlisle, MA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 30, 2016 with her loved ones by her side. She was the youngest daughter of six of Roland and Annie Hartling, born February 20, 1930 in Lexington, MA. Ginny was employed by BF Goodrich for 19 years before retiring. She and her husband Herb were residents of Port Charlotte for 40 years. Ginny loved being a volunteer for Fawcett Hospital through the H2U volunteer program, crocheting lap blankets and other items to donate to patients. She loved sports and was very involved in the senior softball program as score keeper for many years. Ginny was also an excellent seamstress. She could create anything with her sewing machine or crochet needles. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh, loved a good joke and thought the best of everyone. Ginny also had a great love for animals. She is survived by her step-son, Terry (Linda Heider) Wilkie and; grandchildren, Robin and Josh; brother-in-law, Earl Wilkie and many nieces and nephews. Ginny is and will always be a "special mom and best buddy" to Jackie and Tom and will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Herb and five brothers and sisters. Interment of Ginny and Herb will be at Green Cemetery in Carlisle, MA at a later date. Arrangements are by Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
