Traudel Simon

Traudel Simon, 85, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away Wed. Feb. 3, 2016. She was born April 6, 1930 in Germany, the oldest of four children. Traudel came to this country May 31, 1955 by the way of Ellis Island. She lived in New York City with her sister and worked as a maid. There she met Marcel Simon and after 3 dates in 12 days, they were married. Traudel will be greatly missed by her sister, Gisele Ansberg of Germany; brother, Wolfgang (Brenda) Schaphoff of West Virginia; children, Jeanette (Mahlon) Miller, Peter (Pam) Simon both of Punta Gorda and Mark (Darlene) Simon of Port Charlotte; grandchildren, Shane, Phillip, Erika and Arielle; great-grandson; several step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-granddaughter and her best friends, Aggie Hajel, Jane Chancelor Story, Anne Winfield and Elke Simon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel of 56 years and brother, Dieter. No service is planned at this time.
