Thomas V. Meagher

Thomas "Tom" V. Meagher, 73, of Punta Gorda and E. Wakefield NH, passed away April 27, 2009. He was born September 28, 1935, in Everett MA, to Daniel O'Connell and Mary Ann (Sutherland) Meagher. He grew up in Saugus MA, graduated from Saugus High in 1953, and studied at Northeastern University. He attended First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda. Following his service in the US Army, he worked for the US Navy for 35 years in Boston MA and Newport RI, and retired as a project manager in SUP SHIPS. Tom was a pilot and a member of AOPA, Fubar Flyers and Cub Club. He was also a member of a shooting club at Babcock Ranch, American Legion Post 46 in Conway NH, and a former member of the Foxhill Yacht Club in Saugus MA. He was an avid reader and loved luxury cruises and Classic Country music. His family has many fond memories of him skiing at King Pine, including the last time in January 2009, and fishing and boating in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He loved all sports and was a Red Sox Nation member. In his younger years, he played on the New England Red Devils semi-pro basketball team, and he played organized basketball until age 58. Tom had a great love of animals, especially dogs. He will be greatly missed by his wife Joanne Sullivan and pooch Doo-Dah!; daughters Terry (Henry) Moscone of Lynn MA and Madison NH; Julie (Barry) Davis of Rochester NH; and son Daniel (Paula) of Georgetown MA; grandchildren Bradley & Kyle Davis, Kristen & Daniel Moscone and Lindsay Meagher; and great-granddaughter Audrey. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert and his first wife Barbara. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 3, at 1:00 PM, at the Ventura Lakes Clubhouse, 27110 Jones Loop Road, Punta Gorda, exit 161 off I-75. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 11:00 AM, at the Knights of Columbus, 177 Lynnfield Street, Route 129, Lynn MA.
