Sylvia J. Branzei

Sylvia Jean Branzei was born March 29, 1929, in Detroit, MI to Sylvia and Ivar Anderson.  Her family moved to Farmington when she was ten years old.  81 years later, she still spent part of her time on the family land.  Sylvia’s Farmington high school graduating class just celebrated its 74th reunion.  She graduated from Albion College with a degree in Music and later earned her Masters of Education from Michigan State. 

She was very active in the Swedish community by serving as President of the Swedish Club and directing for both the Scandia and Arpi chorus. 

Jean was the best road dog.  One summer she packed up her 4 daughters, ages 4-12, and drove to the Yucatan peninsula.  She felt the best way to learn about the world was to see it and experience the cultures.  She had no fear and she never told a lie. 

She is survived by her husband Alex of 64 years; her 4 daughters, Kris, Carol, Gloria, and Aleis; her 4 grandchildren, Tracy, Eva, QI, and Annie; and her 2 great-grandchildren, Beau and Sofia.  Sylvia passed away at home with her family in Punta Gorda, Florida on October 18, 2020.
