Roland Leroy Howe

Rolli and his family would like to extend his and their gratitude to those who served and are now serving in the United States Marine Corps and his friends at the D.A.V. Roland “ Rolli” Leroy Howe, 75, of Punta Gorda passed away Monday, September 10, 2007 at his residence in the company of his loving family. He was born May 15, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to Dewey and Gladys Howe. Rolli attended Bedford Rural Agricultural School and worked locally in the automotive industry before he served in the US Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Eighth Marine Infantry Battalion, a unit at the Toledo Naval Armory and he was honored with a Purple Heart for his combat in Korea. Rolli was intelligent, genuine, honest and to those who knew him best, unconditionally stubborn. He will be remembered as an exemplary man, marine and a citizen who loved and cared for those close and dear to him. Rolli will be greatly missed by his sister, June Wagner; daughters, Rosalind Howe and Marian Howe; grandchildren, Ryan Wainwright, Morgan Wainwright and Trevor Day; great-grandchildren Skyler Day along with many loving friends in life and death. A memorial service will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte, FL 33950.
