Roger L. Bond, Sr., 62 of Punta Gorda passed away September 15, 2008. He was born September 15, 1946 to Cecil and Rose (Wallen) Bond in London, Ohio. Roger served as a Navy Seal during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as a Fixed Equipment Inspector and retired after 35 years from Shell Oil, Delaware City Refinery. Roger was an avid Harley owner/ rider and fisherman. He will be remembered as a loving husband, an excellent father, mentor and role model to his children. Roger will be greatly missed by his wife, Caren; father, Cecil of Punta Gorda; daughters, Kathy (Jim( Manning of Middletown, Del and Shayna Stidham of Bear, Del; sons, Roger (Angie) of Portland, OR and Chris (Anna) of Newark, Del; brothers, Bill (Alice) of Middletown, Del and Leonard of Tampa, FL; sisters, Sue (Mike) Chadwick of Ocean View, Del, Terry Bond of Ridgely, MD and Kaye (Greg) Duvan of Sedona, AZ; grandchildren, Amber Manning, Collin Bond, Christopher Bond and Morgan Bond. A memorial service will be held in Delaware at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 992 Tamiami Trail, Unit C-2, Port Charlotte, FL 33953.
