Robert William Merritt

Robert W. "Bob" Merritt, 80 of Punta Gorda passed away February 27, 2008. He was born April 23, 1927 in Elmira, New York. Bob worked at Nash Engineering in CT starting as an electrician's helper working his way to a systems engineer 42 years later. He retired in 1985 spending winters in Florida and summers in Pennsylvania until moving permanently to Florida in 1997. Bob was an active member of Bay Palm Mobile Home Park and held the position of Treasurer. He loved gardening and his family, especially his devoted wife Shirley. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; daughter Sharon Davidson of Port Charlotte; son, Alan Merritt of Jacksonville; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. A celebration of Bob's life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
