Richard W. Trautman

March 12, 1927 — January 1, 2009

Richard W. Trautman was the son of Frank and Dorothy (Hirsch) Trautman, born March 12, 1927 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Richard served with Squadron K-1 in the US Air Force during WWII and earned the WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the American Theatre Ribbon. He worked for National Cash Register (NCR as a field engineer and Clark Equipment for many years. After retiring, he moved to Port Charlotte from Buchanan, Michigan. He was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol and American Legion. Richard was an avid card player and enjoyed playing pinochle at the Cultural Center. In his younger years, he was an active pilot, loved fishing, boating, and polka dancing. He was a fan of comedy and enjoyed a good joke and sharing one in return. Richard passed away January 1, 2009 at the age of 81 in Port Charlotte, Florida and will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Alice; daughter, Jane (Richard) Hardy of Niles, Michigan; sons, Karl Trautman of South Bend, Indiana, Glen (Lynn) Trautman of Estero, Florida and Dale Trautman of Canyon Lake, Texas; brother, Donald (Ruth) Trautman of Otsego, Michigan; sister, Mary Sue (R. James) Smith of Richmond, Virginia; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Trautman; and brother, Frank Trautman.
