Richard John Warne

Richard “Old Ugly” Warne, 70, of Punta Gorda passed away August 23, 2007. He was born February 22, 1937 in Stoughton, WI to John and Clarice (Serverson) Warne. Richard served in the US Army from 1956 to 1959. He worked as a mechanic and moved from Crystal Lake, Illinois to Punta Gorda in 1971. Richard was a member of the N.R.A. and was an outdoor woodsman. He was a huge NASCAR fan and has been associated with Charlotte County Speedway since its opening. Richard will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Beverly; daughters Kim (Myron) Koons of Pinellas Park, Mary (Gary) Taylor of Punta Gorda and Cindi (Robert) Goudreau of Punta Gorda; sister Jean (Jeff) Sherry of Cape Coral; grandchildren Jimbo, Heather, Jaimee, Rob Dob, David, Helena and Richie along with great-grandchildren Nathan, Robert James, Zachery and Hailey. A celebration of Richard “Old Ugly” will be 1:00 pm, Monday August 27, 2007 at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
