Richard E. Bacon, Jr.

Richard Eugene Bacon, Jr., 72 years old of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Hand) Bacon; parents, Richard, Sr., and Maxine Bacon; and siblings, James Bacon, Linda Bacon-Kendall, and Kathleen Chapman.

He is survived by his daughter, Regena (Michael) Gruber of South Bend, IN; his son, Richard T. Bacon of Plymouth, IN; his grandchildren, Victoria (Aaron) Subkow, Justin Gruber, Sparrow Bacon, Adelaide Bacon; and great-grandchild, Isabelle Subkow. Also surviving are his siblings John (Roxene) Bacon, Sr., of Summerville, SC; William Bacon of Jackson, MI; Margaret (Darrell) Johnston of Stafford, VA; Janet Bacon-Dixon of Saranac, MI; Jerry Bacon and Larry Bacon of Christiansburg, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was a former resident of Michigan and Indiana, graduating high school, class of 1967, in Greenville, MI, receiving his Associate Degree at Montcalm Community College and his Bachelor Degree from Western Michigan University.

He lived in Florida for the last five years of his life, making many local friends, especially at Cass Cay. He was good at woodworking, making frames for Linda’s paintings. He enjoyed boating, fishing, working on cars and driving fast, watching football, and defending his Houston Oilers team.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a charity of your choice.

There will be a memorial service celebrating his life at Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville, MI, at a later date.
