Paul H. Wedell

Paul H. Wedell, Jr., 69, of Punta Gorda passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012. He was the son of Mary (Schroeder) and Paul H. Wedell, Sr., born April 17, 1943 in Chicago, IL until the family moved to SW Florida in 1953. Paul served in the US Navy and was the first motorcycle deputy of Charlotte County. He began working as a pipefitter for Local Union 630 in West Palm Beach and served as its president and organizer before retiring in 2003. He was an active and much loved member of Eastside Baptist Church serving as yokefellow and on numerous committees. Paul was also a member of American Legion Post 103 as Sgt at Arms, Lead Honor Guard and honored as 2012 Legionnaire of the Year. Paul will be greatly missed by his best friend and wife of 34 years, Jo Ann; son, Michael A. (Ursa) Wedell; daughters, Teresa George, Susan Wedell, Lori (Steve) Bandler and Deanna Rose; brother, Michae E. (Madeleine) Wedell; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at Eastside Baptist Church, 6220 Golf Course Blvd., Punta Gorda on June 9, 2012 at 11:00am.
