Paul A. Bankson

December 22, 1935 — April 26, 2022

Paul A. Bankson passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2022, in Punta Gorda, FL. He was 86.

Paul grew up in Cape Elizabeth, ME thru his high school years. He attended Boston University where he graduated with a degree in Public Relations. He used to love to tell the story of how his father would drive him as far as the bridge from Maine to New Hampshire, and he would have to hitchhike his way back to Boston.

After graduating he took a job with Connecticut General Life Insurance(now CIGNA) where he worked for 38 years before retiring. He married Natalie Clark in 1957. They had three daughters and several moves before retiring to Florida in 1998.

He loved technology, but was very selective about it. When home computers came on the scene he was all in, but still wouldn’t carry a cellphone for anything other than an emergency. He loved his iPad but refused to use FaceTime to the utter consternation of his daughters.

For nearly 20 years he made an annual pilgrimage to Ontario, Canada with three other retirees from CIGNA, to be dropped at an outpost via seaplane to fish for a week. He loved the trip and always looked forward to it.

Natalie preceded him in death in 2001. Paul married Roberta in 2006. They enjoyed jazz, going on cruises, taking in preseason baseball games, and watching hockey and womens basketball. Paul was a big fan of the womens UConn team.

Paul is survived by his wife, Bobbie, his daughters, Julie, Kelly, and Vicki. Sons in law Howard and Clayton. Grandchildren Cody, Samantha, Logan, Isabel, Kylie, Zackary, Joshua, and Lucas and great-grandchild, Calvin. Brother Lloyd and Brother in Law David.

There will be no service at the decedent's request. In remembrance, donations may be made to one of Paul’s favorite charities, the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Ft. Myers or Tidewell Hospice who provided end-of-life care for Paul.
