Nancy Jean Plante

Nancy Jean Plante, 56, of Port Charlotte passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of John T. and Mae Frank (Thomas) Cullifer, born May 13, 1953 in Hartford, AL. Nancy graduated from Seminole High School in Seminole, FL in 1971. She served for six years in the US Air Force as a Sergeant and member of the Strategic Air Command and was honorably discharged June 15, 1979. Nancy graduated form Hernando Community College and was awarded an Associate in Arts degree on May 16, 1982. While there, she was a member of the National Honor Society/Phi Theta Kappa. She graduated from Arizona State University and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree on December 24, 1984. Nancy was married to Stephen H. Plante and resided in Port Charlotte since 1990. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte. Nancy's professional career focused on accounting and taxes. From 1992-2007 she worked for the Charlotte County Clerk of Court as Senior Financial Accountant in the Accounts Payable Department. During this time, she also provided accounting and tax services for the general public through her own business. Nancy enjoyed Tai Kwon Do, reading, shopping, and loving her dog, Buttons. Nancy will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Stephen; father John T. and stepmother Eva J. Cullifer of Buladean, NC; sisters, Terry Sapp of San Antonio, FL, Vicki (Bill) Howard of Clearwater, Sharon (Wayne) Morrell of Orlando, Jo (Steven) Haynes of Tampa, Patty (Gary) Latimer of Spruce Pine, NC, Sandy (Greg) Ollis and Johnni (Brian)Masterson both ofBuladean, NC ; brothers, Steve Cullifer of New Hampshire and George (Donna) Hinzman of Burnsville, NC; five uncles, eight aunts, 17 nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and sister, Shirley Rene Stacey. The family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 pm Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with the service in celebration of Nancy's life following at 7:00.
