Malcolm Lee Barringer

November 11, 1930 — April 14, 2008

Malcolm "Mac" Lee Barringer, 77, of Punta Gorda passed away April 14, 2008. He was born November 11, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to Marion and Alice Barringer. Mac completed his B.A. at University of Ohio and also completed the ROTC Program. He was always a terrific baseball player and was scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals but instead he chose to make the Navy a career. Mac was stationed in San Diego with the 7th Fleet and traveled throughout Southeast Asia. He was commissioned as the Admirals Aide in Subic Bay, Philippine Islands where he lived with his family for two years. At the end of his career, Mac was assigned to the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC. He retired as a Navy Commander after 22 years. Mac moved to Deep Creek in Port Charlotte where he worked as a real estate broker until full retirement in the mid 1990's. Mac loved sports, the sea and golf. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Corrine, son, Craig; daughter, Cheralyn and four sons on Corrine's side of the family, Bill, Don, Mike and Bob. A graveside service will be at 10:00 am, April 21, 2008 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be to Alzheimer's Association, 22107 Elmira Blvd. Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
