Louise Picard

Louise Picard, 57, of North Port, FL, on December 9, 2015 lost her courageous battle with brain cancer, peacefully at home. Louise was born December 17, 1957, in Washington, D.C. and spent her childhood in Framingham, MA and Royal Oak, MI. After early jobs in real estate and healthcare she followed her parents lead, moving to Florida. She was the co-founder and co-owner of Your Hearing Now and her professionalism, loyalty, and sense of humor will be missed. She was known to say that she did not find herself in Florida by accident; she got in her car during a cold MI January and drove here as fast as she could. Louise settled in North Port and after a successful career in the cemetery business she found her true calling in the hearing industry. She co-founded and co-owned Your Hearing Now, which at its peak had five offices in SW FL. Louise, took both pride and pleasure in working with patients and created a foundation that provided free hearing instruments. Louise was a cat lover and her favorite charity was St Frances Animal Rescue in Venice. She loved the Florida sun, which she said she got far too much of and had prematurely aged her and loved working out with her 'peeps' at the Port Charlotte YMCA. What Louise really loved though were her friends. She was outgoing, energetic, with a self-deprecating sense of humor and a quick wit. She is survived by her brothers, John Picard of Seattle, WA, Denis Picard of Port Charlotte, FL, Richard Picard of Royal Oak, MI; step-daughters, Jennifer Steward and Sue Donegan of Detroit, MI and cared for by her best friend and partner, Maurya Hellane, of North Port, FL. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Pat Stewart; parents, Georgette and Maurice Picard. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 23, 2016, at 3pm, at The Heron Creek Gold & Country Club in North Port.
