Lee Farley Mills

Lee Farley Mills, 88, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Dry Ridge, KY, passed from this life Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Charlotte Regional Medical Center. She was born October 1, 1920 to John J. and Lola (Jackson) Farley in Loyall, KY. Lee graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BA degree in Elementary Education and an MA Degree from the University of Kentucky in School Administration and Counseling. She taught in various schools in Harlan County, was a high school counselor at Georgetown High School and Owen County High School, and finished her career of 44 years in public education as a counselor at Walton Verona High School, Walton, KY. Lee was the first woman appointed to the board of Regents at Northern Kentucky University, serving four years on this board. Lee has been a member of the Dry Ridge Baptist Church since 1966. Lee will be greatly missed by her husband, William L. Mills; daughter, Jennifer Bowen; grandchildren, Tracie Leigh Johnson, Brandon Bowen, and Rebecca Bowen; and great-grandchildren, Katie and Camron Johnson, and Braxton Bowen. Visitation will be 5 - 8 pm Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the Eckler Hudson McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge, KY. The funeral service will be held at the Dry Ridge Baptist Church at 2 pm on Sunday with Rev. Willie Ailstock officiating. Interment will be made in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
