Kathryn Elizabeth Wigglesworth

Kathryn E. Wigglesworth, 91, of Punta Gorda, and formerly of Wichita, KS, passed away peacefully at her home on May 6, 2009. She was born May 24, 1917 in Davenport, Iowa to Harry and Sadie (Silk) Terry. A kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Kathryn spent her life caring for others. There was forever room at her table for someone in need, and lost or injured animals always found comfort at her door. Kathryn and her husband, David, moved to Punta Gorda in 1991 and soon became involved with the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Civic Association, and the Isles Yacht Club. She and David spent many happy days cruising the Florida waters on their trawler the “Kathryn Elizabeth.” In addition to boating, Kathryn’s interests included painting, playing the organ and daily Bible reading. She took special delight in the company of her family and her many friends. Kathryn will be greatly missed by her loving family: sons, Terry (Marilyn) of San Clemente, CA and Michael (Anne) of Punta Gorda, FL; daughters, Judy (Richard) Harvey of Wichita, KS and Carole (Scott) Childs of Goddard, KS; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, caregiver and friend Arlene Diaz, and chocolate Labrador, Chewy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, and her great-grandson, Christopher Clevenger. A memorial service in celebration of Kathryn’s life will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Punta Gorda with Rev. Vincent Scotto officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Memorial Fund, 410 W. Henry St., Punta Gorda, FL.
