Kathleen Ruth Schmidt Kuchta

Kathleen "Kathy" Ruth Schmidt Kuchta, 83, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was the daughter of Gustav and Bertha Schmidt, born October 19, 1930 in Cleveland, OH. Kathy graduated from Lorain High School and was a retired registered nurse. She moved from Rootstown, Ohio to this area in 1982. Kathy was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Punta Gorda, former member of The Charlotte Chorale and a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Newton Falls, OH. She volunteered at Neil Armstrong Elementary School reading with students. She made over 1000 quilts for family members and lap quilts for shut-ins. Kathy will be greatly missed by her daughter, Beth (Norm); sons, Bruce (Lisa) and Kevin; brothers, Gus (Sue) and Noel (Mary); sister, Margene; grandchildren, Amber, Nicol, Jonathan, Nicholas, Tristan, Steven and Jeremy and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph of 51 years; parents, Gustav and Bertha, and sisters, Jean and Carolyn. No service is planned at this time. Memorial donations may be made in Kathy's memory to Kingsway Elementary School Music Program, 23300 Quasar Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL 33980.
