John P. Orszak

John P. Orszak, 87, of Port Charlotte passed away December 24, 2008. He was the son of Alex and Anna (Comer) Orszak, born September 13, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. John served in the Army 1037th Air Materiel Squadron during WWII. He was an accounting supervisor for First Energy, formerly Cleveland Electric Illuminating, for many years before retiring. John came to Port Charlotte in 1984 from Seven Hills, Ohio and worked with the comptroller in the formation of Maple Leaf Estates. He was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church, the VFW and Moose Lodge. John enjoyed dancing and, in his later years, watching Westerns on TV. John will be greatly missed by his wife of 39, years, Nancy; daughters, Karen Orszak of Ohio and Marie (Bill) Sofsak of Washington; sons, John R. Orszak of Ohio, Kevin (Pat) Orszak of Florida, and Michael (Terri) Orszak of Ohio; sister, Mary Ann (Dr. Kent) Johnson of Ohio; brother, Edward (Lillian) Orszak of South Carolina; 4 grandsons, Tony, Paul, Chris, and Tyler; and special dog, Lady. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Mary Orszak. The family will receive friends 2-5 pm Monday, December 29, 2008 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. The service in celebration of John's life will be at 11 am Tuesday at San Antonio Catholic Church.
