John C. Williams, Sr.

John C. Williams, 66, of Port Charlotte passed away April 2, 2009. He was the son of Richard and Willette (Landcaster) Williams, born October 15, 1942 in Punta Gorda. John began working as a commercial shrimper and then worked as a concrete finisher for many years before retiring. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He loved fishing and watching NASCAR with his favorite drivers being Dale Earnhardt and Dale Jr. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grand kids. John will be greatly missed by his wife, Shirley; son, John (Ricki) Williams, Jr of North Port; daughter, Nancy (Glen) Walker of Bartow; brother, Carlos Williams of Florence, SC, sisters, Ernestine Horner of Perry, FL, Sue Nottingham of Angleton, TX, Faye Sunntag of AL, Carolyn Foley of Angelton, TX and Patricia Pettit of Freeport, TX; grandchildren, Missy Walker, Nickie (Robert) McCarty, Jessica Walker, Robert Lee Williams, Kellie Williams and Bryan Williams and great-grandchildren, Damien Maltos, Halie Bartley, Brittany McCarty, Jonathan McCarty, Ethan McCarty, Alisha McCarty, Dustin Maynard, Elizabeth Maynard and Kate Maynard. The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 am, Monday, April 6, 2009 with a service in celebration of John's life to follow at 11:00 am at Eastside Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Royal Palm Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 6220 Golf Course Boulevard, Punta Gorda, FL 33982.
