Joan Powell

Joan A. Powell was the daughter of Frederick and Helen (Willis) Powell, born February 15, 1941 in Newark, New Jersey. Joan retired from New Jersey Bell (Verizon) after 33 years of service, and moved to Port Charlotte, Florida in 1993 from Belleville, New Jersey. Joan was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte, serving for many years in the AWANA Sparks program. Though she had no children of her own, she invested her life into her nieces, nephews, and the children in AWANA. Joan enjoyed the company of her friends, and spending time with family. Joan went to be with her Lord on December 25, 2012 at the age of 71. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Barbara Worsham of Northbridge, Massachusetts; brother, Frederick Powell of Lenexa, Kansas; long-time friend Marie Testa of Port Charlotte, Florida; wonderful nieces and nephews; and many friends. The family will receive friends 11:00 am to Noon on Monday, December 31, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Port Charlotte, with the service in celebration of Joan's life beginning at Noon.
