James C. Powell

James "Jim" C. Powell, 77, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Cincinnati, OH passed away November 19, 2015. He was the son of James and Frances Powell, born October 27, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH. Jim served as an M P with the US Air Force. He worked as a superintendent for the City of Cincinnati for 30 years before retiring. Jim attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Elks Club, Punta Gorda. Jim was a member of the Seahawks RC Airplane Club in Cape Coral. He was an avid RC airplane enthusiast. He loved building them, and displayed some of them at the Military Heritage Museum at Fisherman's Village. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Jim will be greatly missed by his wife of 33 years, Mary Ellen "Ellie"; daughter, Kathy (Tracy Brown) Powell; son, Michael (Suzanne) Powell; numerous grandchildren including Gabriel and Zachary and a few great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie. A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be at 2pm, Monday, November 23, 2015 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services.
