James C. Failing

James C. Failing, 80, of East Lansing, MI and winter resident of Port Charlotte, FL passed away on November 29, 2014 surrounded by family and trusty dog, Bandit. He was the son of Clarence and Elizabeth Failing, born March 10, 1934 in Pontiac, MI. Jim worked as a Beauty Supply Representative for 43 years; Pierce Brothers for 28 years and Beauty Craft for 6 years. He was a devoted family man and an active member of the Lansing JC's. Jim was a man who truly enjoyed and appreciated his family and friends. Jim loved basketball, softball, bowling, and was an avid golfer. Jim was a big MSU Spartan Fan. Jim will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Susan Kay Failing; children, Lisa (Chuck) Dye, Kimberly Brainard, Michael (Anne) Failing, Heather (Jim) Hamilton, Daniel (Becky) Mickelsen and Lana Sloots; grandchildren, Sara, Brittany, McClellan, Matthew USMC, Brian USMC, Lauren Army, Amy, Myssie & Denise and great-grandchildren, Airyana, Mackenzie, Nathanial and Cadence. He was preceded in death by his son, James Mickelsen USMC; parents; sister, Ione; uncle, Charles Gleason and son in law, David Brainard. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
