James A. Hire

James A. Hire, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022. He was born on February 9, 1939, to Robert and Frieda Hire in Lima, OH. James resided in Lima until 2015 when he relocated to Punta Gorda.

James graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1957 and honorably served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1967. He worked as a Machinist until his retirement in 1996 and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. James enjoyed fishing, billiards, and classic cars. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and loved a Kewpee hamburger.
James will forever be remembered as a joyful husband, father, brother, son, and grandfather to all who loved him.

James will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Sara Jane (Maxwell) Hire; daughter Pamela Sue Hire; son Bryan Scott (Lisa) Hire; brothers Robert M. (Kathy) Hire, William A. (Brenda) Hire and Richard A. (Ellen) Hire; sisters Sharon E. Fess and Mary Lou Delong; his 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Frieda Hire.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 11th, 2022, from 12 to 4 pm at the Lincoln Park behind the firehouse in Lima, Ohio.
