Harriet M. Illie was the daughter of Harry and Helene (Petri) Litke, born May 19, 1924 in South Buffalo, New York. Harriet was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting them in their activities. They were a source of pride for her. She was a longtime supporter of the Clarence High School band in Buffalo, and she brought her love of band music to Punta Gorda, attending concerts at the local high schools. Harriet was a wonderful seamstress and made many of her own clothes; she enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was a good swimmer and enjoyed being on the water; she also enjoyed traveling the United States and going on cruises. Harriet was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. Harriet passed away December 9, 2009 in Punta Gorda, Florida at the age of 85. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Phillip Illie; daughter, Gail (John) Erdmann of Collins, New York; son, Gary (Marilyn) Masterson of Elgin, Illinois; three grandchildren, Anne Castro, B J Erdmann and Daniel Erdmann; and two great-granddaughters, Mia and Isabel Castro. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Masterson and son, Errol Masterson. The service in celebration of Harriet’s life will be at 10:30 am Saturday December 12 at Cleveland United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 22107 Elmira Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
