Gordon R. Phillips, Jr.

Gordon R. Phillips, Jr. of Susquehanna, PA was promoted to Heaven on April 10, 2014. Born on September 5, 1934 in Reading, PA to Dorothy and Gordon Phillips, Sr. He and his wife Mary had been retired 18 years in Susquehanna, PA. Prior to retiring, Gordon managed the state of NJ as a general agent for the Medical Protective Company of Fort Wayne, IN. He served two years in the US Army and was a paratrooper in the 81 Airborne Division. Gordon is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary; son Chip, a medical missionary to Brazil; daughter Cheryl, a school teacher in Indiana; seven grandchildren, Reed, Caleb, Alison, Susanna and Julie Anne Phillips and Joseph and Kathleen Berry; and three sisters, Diana Swartz, Louisa Moretti and Jacqueline Murray. His younger brother Ronald died in 2013 A graveside military service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL. A memorial service will be held at the South New Milford Baptist Church, 2967 Harford Road, New Milford, PA on Thursday, April 24 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Gordon Phillips Memorial Fund for missions at the South New Milford Baptist Church.
