Goldie E. Freeland

January 23, 1923 — December 4, 2023

Mrs. Goldie Elizabeth “Liz” Freeland, daughter of the late Thomas Hilman Jackson and Esta

Mae Gifford Jackson was born January 23, 1923 in Orlando County, West Virginia. She spent her

childhood in that area and then as a young adult moved to Baltimore, MD with her brother and cousin

where she worked at Lang’s Pickle Factory, and later Westinghouse Radio Division and Bendix

Corporation in manufacturing.

She and Elden Gerald “Jerry” Freeland met in Baltimore and were wed on September 8, 1946. They were

blessed with two children. Goldie continued working at Bendix Corporation for many years and was an

active member of Joppa Road Baptist Church. She loved shopping and gardening. In their retirement

years, Goldie and Jerry enjoyed travel and Saturday evening pinocle. Jerry preceded her in death on

July 25, 2008 after 62 years of marriage. In 2010, Goldie moved to Ohio to live with her daughter,

son-in-law and grand daughters, and in 2020 moved with them to Florida. Family has always been

important to Goldie and she loved being such an involved part of her children’s and grandchildren’s

lives.

Goldie quietly departed this life Monday, December 4, 2023 at 100 year of age at Englewood HCA

Hospital in Englewood Florida. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Thomas Freeland, four

brothers Herbert Jackson, Raymond Jackson, Arthur Jackson, and Robert Jackson and four sisters

Mildred Jackson, Macel Jackson, Lucy Villers, and Linda Lou Gifford. She is survived by her

daughter, Deborah K Freeland and son-in-law Thomas F. Robinson of Port Charlotte, FL. Her beautiful

life will forever be cherished in the lives of her three grandchildren: Scott Freeland of

Buckingham VA, Sarah Robinson of Cincinnati OH, Jennifer (Shiloh) Robinson of Dublin NH and many

other relatives who mourn her passing.
