George Selby Canada

George Selby Canada, 73, of Port Charlotte passed away October 18, 2009. He was the son of George and Laura (Sutton) Canada, born April 5, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN. Selby was a veteran in the Navy, served on the USS Newport News and was a medic in the Korean Conflict. He loved playing fast-pitch softball and was an avid trap shooter. He came to Port Charlotte from Indianapolis in August of 2008. Selby will be greatly missed by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Jeff (Amanda) Canada of Punta Gorda and Nick (Jan) Canada of Fort Myers, Fl; sister, Jetty Bauer of Indianapolis, IN; 6 grandchildren; 1st wife and mother of Jeff and Nick, Rosalind. Selby was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be at 10:30am, Monday, November 9, 2009 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 23456 Olean Blvd, Port Charlotte.
