George Edward Holben, 79, of North Port, FL passed away April 27, 2007. He was born May 4, 1927 in Camden, New Jersey to George and Edna (Austin) Spencer. George served in the US Army during WWII. He worked as a Traffic Manager in Distribution for Hublein Company before retiring and moving from Bristol, CT in 1996. George was a life time member of the D.A.V. and a member of VFW in Bristol, CT and North Port, FL. He was a member of San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port. George will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Herta; daughters Monica (Steve) Zammett of North Port and Valerie Streeter of Port St. Lucie, FL; son Ed (Linda) Holben of North Port along with 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchilden. The family will receive friends 5:00 - 6:00 pm, Tuesday, May 1, 2007 with a celebration of George’s life to follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Punta Gorda Chapel of Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
