George E. Zocco

George E. Zocco, 75, of Port Charlotte passed away November 21, 2009. He was the son of Vincenzo and Rose (Pucia) Zocco, born January 29, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, New York. George served in the US Army Military Band in Ulm, Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe with the band . He was a retired Firefighter with the city of Poughkeepsie and moved to Port Charlotte in 1997. George was a member of Port Charlotte Moose #2153, Italian-American Club of Punta Gorda and North Port American Legion. He was of the Catholic faith. George will be greatly missed by his wife of 29 years, Helen; daughter, Lisa (John) McDaniel of Yuba City, CA; step-daughter, Tina Baker Jackson of Exeter, RI; son, Michael Zocco of Yuba City, CA; sister, Josephine Mavilla of Schenedty, NY; grandchildren, Ricky, Amber, Kiara and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Orazio and sister, Katherine. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc with a celebration of George’s life at 10:00 am, Monday, November 30, 2009.
