Gene Perry

Eugene Earl "Gene" Perry, 77, of Punta Gorda passed away January 8, 2009. He was the son of Earl H and Virginia (Wilson) Perry, born October 5, 1931 in Charleston, WV. Gene spent 4 years in active duty with the US Air Force, then served 28 years in the 130th Airlift Wing in Charleston, WV and 70th APO SQ Homestead, FL and retired 1991. He was a captain with the Charleston Police Department, and retired from there after 26 years of service. Gene was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #202 in Charleston, WV and the VFW Chapter in Cape Coral, FL; he was also a proud member of the Charlotte County Democratic Executive Committee and the Charlotte County Democratic Club. Gene will be greatly missed by his wife, Karen; son, Eugene E. (Pat) Perry, Jr of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Megan (Robert) Sloan, and Amanda Young, both of Charleston, WV; and great-grandson, Izak Young of Charleston, WV; sisters, Nancy Frye of Scott Depot, WV and Joanne (Walter) McComas of Charleston, WV; brothers, John (Glenda) Pyles of Broken Arrow, OK and David (Linda) Pyles of Oxford, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Fleming; and step-father, John Pyles. Services will be private. To express condolences to the family, please sign the online guest book.
