Ellen Margaret Werner

Ellen Margaret Werner, 79, of Port Charlotte passed away May 3, 2015. She was the daughter of John and Alice (King) Carew, born May 18, 1935 in Bronx, NY. Ellen was a nurse and dedicated caregiver for many years before retiring. She moved to this area in 1995 from N. Plainfield, NJ, and was an active member of Murdock Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and as a deacon. Ellen will be greatly missed by her husband of 58 years, August; sons, August Charles (Mary) of S. Brunswick, NJ, and David (Ann) of Wall Kill, NY; sisters, Jean (Tony) Spielman of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Alice Battali of Flagstaff, AZ; and 5 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Wendy Werner Aprile. The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services with the service in celebration of Ellen's life beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, 1144 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
