Donald J. Frank

Donald J. Frank, 67, of Port Charlotte died October 2, 2008. He was born November 3, 1940 in Harrisburg, PA to Herbert and Helen (Hannan) Frank. Donald served in the Air Force as a surgical tech during the Vietnam War. Donald retired after 25 years of service with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, initially as a field accountant then as administrator and security chief for the Pennsylvania State Lottery. Later he worked as a private consultant for lottery start ups for 10 US State lotteries and 4 international lotteries. During this time he called his 38 foot trawler Sea Venture home where he summered in Chesapeake Bay and wintered at Fisherman's Village. Donald retired again, but continued for several years to work as night security guard at Peace River Hospital (formerly St. Joseph) in Port Charlotte where his wife was a nurse. He was a member of American Legion Post 110 where he assisted with the rebuilding of the post after Hurricane Charley as the Financial Officer; 40 & 8 Voiture 1526 in Port Charlotte where he received a citation as Honarary Chef de Gare; VFW Post 7415 in New Cumberland, PA; and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 34 years, Barbara K. Frank; mother in law, Fawn Fitting of Port Charlotte; sister in laws, Fawn (Don) Ross of Enola, PA and Margaret (Terry) Glusco of York, PA; nieces, Andrea (John) Pottieiger of New Cumberland, PA and Angela (Brent) Halpin of York, PA; nephew, Donald C. Ross of Enola, PA; 3 great nephews and 2 great nieces. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Thomas Frank and half brother, Dr. Harry Frank. No services are planned at this time.
