Donald E. Thompson

Donald E. "Donnie" Thompson, 76, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly, Hamilton, MA passed away August 14, 2016. He was born December 8, 1939 in Gloucester, MA to Ralph Thompson and Madeline Poor. Donnie attended Gloucester High School and served in the US Coast Guard on board the SN Eastwind. After being released from active duty, he went to Boston Barber School and worked as a part time barber. He and his wife, Diane were the co owners of Donnies Subshop then they opened Skippers Galley Restaurant both in Essex, MA. Donnie retired from the State of Massachusetts. Donnie will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Diane; daughters, Kendra (Cindy Cincotta) Robertson and Shauna (Gary) Platt; grandchildren, Alex Robertson and Dani Robertson; brothers, Philip Poor and David Thompson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Susanno and brothers, Gordon and Bernie. No services are planned at this time. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
