Denise Kay Carey

Denise Kay Carey, 64, of Punta Gorda Fla., passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015. She was born on September 21, 1950 in Lake Forest, Illinois and moved to Punta Gorda in 2013. Denise was often recognized for her many years service as middle school secretary, where she was the energetic stand-in parent for more than 800 children. There are no more avid lovers of pets on this planet than Denise, when during more than 42 years of marriage, she nurtured her dogs, Digger, Murphy and Abby, and her cats, Lulu, Rufus, Rocky, Dizzy, Pepper, Max and Cooper, all spoiled beyond imagination. Denise was also well known among family members for her poetic ability, and each year she wrote a new "T'was the Night Before Christmas" that included every important Carey Family event during the preceding year. Denise is survived by her loving husband, Patrick; sons, Ryan and Reid; sisters, Suzanne Bonim, Melissa Koska and Renee Dare-Aussem; daughter-in-law, Carolyn and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was preceded in death by her father, Myron Dare, and mother, Joyce Dare. Private memorial services will be held in Punta Gorda, Fl, and Glenview, IL.
