Charles Killingbeck

May 5, 1925 — November 10, 2009

Charles "Chuck" Killingbeck, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in Punta Gorda, FL. Chuck was a veteran who served in the US Army during WWII; he served in the Merchant Marines prior to joining the Army. A long-time resident of Oscoda, MI, he was owner and president of Delta Contracting Co. Chuck and his wife, Marian, were among the first members of Lakewood Shores Golf and Country Club; they made many friends over the 39 years of their membership. They were also long-time members of the Oscoda Yacht Club. Upon retiring, he and Marian built a winter home in Marathon, FL where they enjoyed 13 years of family, friends, fishing and boating in the beautiful Florida Keys. In 1999, they moved their winter home to Punta Gorda, FL where they were members of the Punta Gorda Golf Club and, later, the Port Charlotte Golf Club. Chuck will be sadly missed by his beloved wife and best friend of 58 years, Marian; children, Valarie (Ronald) Grimwood, Dennis (Carlene) Avery, Shari (Gary) McCallister, Charlesette (Samuel) Johnston, Charles (Linda) Killingbeck II, and Bruce Killingbeck; sister, Vera Bortz; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Chuck's honor to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
