Carol Petersen

September 2, 1934 — July 18, 2022

Carol Petersen, 87, formerly of Greece, NY and Punta Gorda, FL passed away on July 18th, 2022. She was born on September 2nd, 1934 in Rochester, NY to the late Harold and Rosina (Edgecombe) Loyst.

Carol was born in the city of Rochester and attended Marshall High School (class of ’52). In 1955, at the age of 21, she married Airman first class USAF, Donald Petersen. Carol and Don raised their two daughters, Sherry and Cindy, in the town of Greece, NY, until 1991 when they retired to Punta Gorda, FL.

“The charm of her pleasantness adds to our happiness.” Was the quote given to Carol in her high school yearbook. Carol’s friends and family adored her gentle demeanor and her infectious laughter. She found so much joy in little moments that she would regularly laugh until she and everyone else around her were in tears through their laughter.

Carol took tremendous pride in her homes and gardens and possessed a natural talent for interior decoration. She enjoyed all sorts of crafts from painting ceramics to embroidery punching, but her favorite craft was crocheting. She made each of her grandchildren their own intricate patterned blankets.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed the role of hostess for friends and family. Carol delighted in decorating and opening her home for festivities.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years Donald LeRoy Petersen; Children; Sherry Welch of Punta Gorda, FL, Cindy (Ed) Arnold of Hilton, NY; 8 grandchildren, EJ (Jeanette) Arnold, Jessica (Don) Andrews, Shannon, Carrie & Mandy Welch, Troy (Ellen) Arnold, Torrell Arnold, Tiffani (Gaurav) Dighe; 9 great-grandchildren, Jasmyn (Mike) Ozug, Bethany, Elizabeth, Jarrett & Shawn Arnold, Brittany (Mike) Montfort, Charlotte, and Oliver Arnold, and Aaryan Dighe; and 1 Great-Great Grandchild Jacob Montfort
