Byron J. Brower

June 22, 1926 — February 29, 2016

Byron J. Brower, 89, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Sioux City, IA passed away February 29, 2016. He was the son of John and Gladys Brower, born June 22, 1926 in Lakeview, IA. Byron served in the US Army during WWII. Byron was the cofounder and President of Brower Construction Company, Asphalt Paving Contractors for forty years. He was a member of the Punta Gorda Elks, Combat Infantrymen's Association Company A, Fort Myers, the Second Indianhead Division Association and First United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda. Byron loved being on the water; boating and working in his garden. He was a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather. Byron will be greatly missed by his wife of 62 years, Muriel; daughters, Kristine Cheever and Amy Gleason; brothers, James, Lowell and Robert; grandchildren, Jessica, Joseph, Paul, Megan, Blake, Rachel and Esther; and great-grandchildren, Colton and Chase. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Nyberg. A memorial service to celebrate Byron's life will be held at 2pm, Saturday, March 19, 2016 at First United Methodist Church.
