Brian R. Sheppard

Brian R. Sheppard, 66, of Punta Gorda peacefully entered eternity with his Lord and Savior on November 13, 2015. He was born on May 22, 1949 to Allen and Norma Sheppard and was raised lovingly by Allen and Marilyn Sheppard from the age of 9. Brian graduated with his Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Agriculture from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. His love for agriculture guided him to a 34-year career as an Agronomist for Dow AgroSciences where he had the opportunity to work and travel in numerous cities across the globe before retiring in 2010. Brian was an avid boater and enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending time with family and friends. Brian's humility, unselfish attitude, analytical approach, genuine character and quick wit were respected and loved by his family and friends. Brian was an active and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda, and the cofounder of the Cancer Support Ministry at the church. Brian was the devoted and loving husband of Jane for 44 years and dedicated father to daughters, Jennifer (James) Rogers and Heather (Kerry) Brown and son, Andrew (Amy) Sheppard. He was a loving son to mother, Marilyn Sheppard, and caring brother to sisters, Noreen (Paul) Taylor and Ruth Gartlan (Martin Randal). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Caleb, Nathan, Alexis, Aidan and Juliana. Brian was preceded in death by his brother, David (Rosemary) Sheppard, father, Allen Sheppard, and birth mother, Norma Sheppard. A service to celebrate Brian's life will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda.
