Arthur L Dagg

September 29, 1947 — November 16, 2008

Arthur Lewis Dagg was the son of Lewis and Gladys (Horn) Dagg, born September 29, 1947 in Houston, Texas. He received his BA in Sociology and Psychology from Louisiana College and earned his Masters in Social Services and Rehabilitation from Sam Houston State University. While working as a youth counselor at the Salesmanship Club Boys Camp in Dallas, Texas, Art realized his calling. He loved the close relationship-building aspect of living with the troubled boys in the outdoors, free from the confines of a traditional school classroom; and saw first hand how the Holy Scriptures were real and applicable in daily life. During his lifetime Art worked with five different programs for troubled youth: Florida Sheriff's Youth Fund, Georgia Baptist Children's Homes, Eckerd Family Youth Alternatives, Wilderness Way Camp School, and Gator Wilderness Camp School. Art married Suzan Adams in 1979 and they were blessed with five children; Rachel, Ronald, Carol, Andrew, and Caleb. Art took a break from wilderness camping from 1996 to 2005, when he served as a volunteer, then on staff, with the Institute in Basic Life Principles. The family lived in Moscow, Russia for two years serving with an orphanage. Upon returning to the states, Art and Suzan served at several different locations with IBLP. Art went home to be with the Lord he loved on Sunday, November 16, 2008. He was doing just what he loved, sitting with a group of boys helping them learn to solve problems. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Suzan; children, Rachel, Ron, Carol, Andrew, and Caleb; mother, Gladys Dagg; sisters, Mary Miller and Evelyn Hall; nieces, Jennifer (Miller) Rodriquez and Sara (Hall) Pylate; nephew, Donald Miller; and six great nieces and nephews.
