Arnold M. Bean

Arnold M. Bean, 89, of Punta Gorda passed away May 18, 2016. He was the son of Kellie and Pauline Bean, born January 15, 1927 in Birmingham, AL. Arnold served in the US Army. He was an engineer for Southern Natural Gas, designing pipeline systems. Arnold enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting. One of his fondest pastimes was building tree houses and playhouses for his grandchildren. He was a member of Burnt Store Presbyterian Church, and Elks Lodge 2606. A diehard Alabama fan, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Arnold will be greatly missed by his wife of 68 years, Doris; daughters, Brenda (Michael) Taylor, Sandy Bean, and Kathy (Lars) Severson; sister, Joann (Jerry) Kendrick; grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Taylor, Josh Taylor, Katie Severson, and Taylor Severson; and great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Hayden. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm Monday, May 23, 2016 at Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www2.jdrf.org.
