Annie Leigh G. Flowers, 95, of Punta Gorda, formerly of Darlington, SC passed away March 6, 2016 at Sandhill Gardens after a brief illness. She was born March 25, 1920 in Egypt, SC to Monroe and Stella Gandy. Annie Leigh moved to Punta Gorda in 2006 to reside near her daughter. While a Darlington resident, Annie Leigh worked in various administrative positions in retail and health care. She retired in 1982 to enjoy time and travel with her husband and grandchildren. Annie Leigh was a member of First Baptist Church of Darlington. Her women's circle at First Baptist was named in honor when she moved from Darlington and she remained a member of the circle until her passing. She was a former member of the Pilot Club International and the Camellia Garden Club of Darlington. Annie Leigh truly enjoyed traveling with her husband to Kiwanis meetings and conventions local, district and international. Annie Leigh will also be remembered for her service at the polls for many, many elections in Darlington at the courthouse. Annie Leigh will be greatly missed by her daughter, Ellen (Eddie) Webb of Punta Gorda; son in law, Walter H. "Sonny" Sims of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Leigh (Jason) Erickson of Marietta, GA, Heyward (Amber) Sims of Columbia, SC and Anna (Adam) Kings of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Anna Erickson, and Sienna Sims; five nieces and one nephew; several great nieces and nephews; sister, Sarah (Harry) Parker of Columbia, SC; brother, Pierce (Barbara) Gandy of OK and sister in law, Martha Gandy of Hartsville, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert L. Flowers, Jr.; daughter, Margaret Sims and brothers, Irvin and B.L. "Buck" Gandy. A visitation will be from 4 to 6pm, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Belk Funeral Home, Darlington, SC with a memorial service to follow on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 4pm. Burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 246 E. Main Street, Darlington, SC 29532 or Tidewell Hospice, Inc.
